“Homegrown Melodies” is a Brunt Reeds production, in collaboration with Fiscal Sponsor, Charlotte New Music, with funding provided by a grant from the City of Charlotte Arts Infusion Opportunity Fund Grant. In this concert, Burnt Reeds performs newly commissioned works by professional composers from the Carolinas. The concert includes compositions by Madison Bush, Amber Ferenz, Elizabeth Kowalski, Jessica Lindsey, Dylan Lloyd, Zack Zubow and hip hop beats artist Khalif Guiden (Royal City Lif).
“From the Mountains to the Sea”, by Amber Ferenz, is “a musical journey across North Carolina, from West to East, beginning with our Glorious Blue Ridge mountains and ending in the vast waters of the Atlantic.”

The pieces commissioned for Homegrown Melodies — including “From the Mountains to the Sea” — have been recorded and released on Burnt Reeds’ debut album, also titled Homegrown Melodies (Albany Records, 2026). Amber’s piece is track 13.
